This is a good article, Gail. The individual's experience seems to be pretty positive--he will finally get good, reliable insurance at a more reasonable rate, and he'll have some protection from the scammers and gougers.
One point he fails to make is that it's much easier understanding insurance now than it was before the ACA. There are many choices on the California exchange (a good thing), and the writer can choose his level of coverage easily. The process of filling out an application is also many times easier, since you don't have to go through pages of questions about your health. The only way to make the process easier, as far as I can tell, would be to move to a single-payer system.
This guy is a perfect example of how easy it was to be uninsurable prior to the ACA.
