I'm new to this group and hoping that, as spring brings our ponds to life again, so too this group will come alive.
A question for the group---In past years I've planted my elephant ears in pots and placed them into the pond. In late fall I removed the pots, let the dirt dry and dig up the bulbs to be stores in the cool dark garage. I've had about a 50 / 50 chance of the bulbs being viable for the next season. Last year none survived. So the purchased 4 new ones. Two are planted outside of the pond at the edge of the waterfall. Two are planted in a pot that I plan to move into the pond when they are about 1 foot tall. My question is--how do I winter over all of them to insure survival?? I live in southern Illinois.
Please check out pictures of my pond.
