In Response to RE: ♥ Love me, Hate me, just don't let me be lonely--favorite books and movies by queenie12
I went on to some of the places we would have gone and loved every minute of it...I could feel him smiling down on me and giving me a "thumbs up". I allowed myself to cry for him one time, and then I got on with having fun.
Hi queenie, Responding to this and also to your post on "Man's Best Friend...."
I agree about Cher being one of the few singers who became a decent actress. Sinatra too..."From Here to Eternity" and "Man with the Golden Arm" among others. Loved "The English Patient"(I keep forgetting super movies here). "Quartet" is on my list. Hoping to see it next weekend.
What you wrote about traveling with your husband and then on your own: it's really touching, honest, and great. I had a visceral reaction to it. Wonder if you keep a journal and/or if you might consider writing an essay using what you began here in "Man's Best Friend...." as a springboard. (I can't help but comment. I'm a longtime teacher of essay/memoir writing.)
And..I just clipped today's (Feb. 10) New York Times Sunday Styles, Modern Love column, "My Touchstone and a Heart of Gold" by Caroline Leavitt to read to my students. A good one!!!
I'm thinking of starting a discussion here using this essay as a jumping off point.
