Embracing the boy in me keeps me young at heart. He’s still full of adventure, hope, and enthusiasm for living each day like when I was ten-years old. He’s with me when I hike with my friends, share a bag of popcorn watching an adventure movie, hold my girlfriend’s hand taking a walk, and watch a sunset with a boy's wonder.
Do you remember how you felt when you were a boy or girl waking up on a sunny, summer morning, knowing the day was unplanned and full of promise? Do you remember how excited you felt when you rode off with your friends for the day on your bicycle with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich wrapped in wax paper, stuffed in your jacket pocket and a nickel in your dungarees for a Coke, wearing the biggest smile as you headed out for an adventure together? Remember how your heart filled with the joy that freedom brought?
Your boy or girl is still in you. Do you feel yours? The first thing I notice about over 50 men or women is whether or not their boy or girl is still active. It shows in their youthful smiles and their unbridled, youthful exuberance for life. There’s nothing foolish about keeping your boy or girl active. It’s what separates the young, older people, from the old, older people. When I get on my motorcycle and ride off to nowhere in particular, I feel the same joy I felt as a ten-year old, riding my bicycle to wherever it took me. I feel the same boyish enthusiasm, and my heart beats fast with the same sense of adventure. How do you keep your boy or girl alive?
