In Response to RE: Buddy System by Prosecco62
Thanks for the Mayo Clinic link.
A few thoughts about the Buddy System: my friend, Judy, who used to live in my building, but moved to New Jersey several years ago, was for all the years after my divorce and before I met by second husband, my "person to notify in case of emergency." I was with my father in Florida when he died. Judy, who had keys to apartment and who I called right away, had to go into my closet and send my dark dress and some other clothes to Buffalo, my hometown, where I was headed straight from Florida for my Dad's funeral. Shortly after that...after staying with my widowed aunt, who had three or four female friends and nieces, call her every morning, I added two more of my friends--one from childhood and one current one--to my list of people I asked to check in. And vice versa. It made me feel safer than having only Judy who when my father died, had to help me from a different town.
