Yep we are all senile and don't understand what they are pulling.....just ask any liberal Democrat!! AAGGGH!! I don't know about you but first $250 won't cover 10% of my donut hole payment and I would much rathr tthey stop giving us things that our kids and grandkids can't afford!!
From a 3/18/10 AARP article referenced below....“- Those in Medicare Part D who fall into the “doughnut hole,” and have to pay all their prescription drug costs for part of the year, would get immediate help this year from a $250 rebate. Next year they would get a 50 percent discount on brand-name drugs, and by 2020 the doughnut hole would be closed completely.” http://bulletin.aarp.org/yourhealth/policy/articles/democrats_release_their_final_health_care_reform_package.html
At least the 50% discount on name-brand drugs in the donut hole will be in effect all next year. Regardless, I’m still searching for out-of-country generic alternatives .... but I suspect the 50% business will be at the expense of imported meds. I seem to recall that was a tradeoff - if the domestic drug companies gave the 50% and gradually closed the hole, the gov’t in return would (try to) interdict imported personal drug. Don’t quote me on that, it needs some more research.
I agree, kittykat9, $250 is a drop in the bucket.
