I'm a first time poster here, so I hope I'm in the right place. www.aarp.org/community/editor/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/regular_smile.gif" alt="" />
I'm, of course, a member of AARP in good standing. On December 31st, 2009 I called and enrolled in the AARP Medicare Prescription Plan D coverage. However, I have come to find out that even though I called on December 31st 2009 my policy was not "enrolled" until January 1st, 2010, outside the enrollment date window. I say "enrolled" but it is not truly an enrollment past December 31st, 2010 unless I meet special circumstances, which I do not and never asked to be considered for.
I've been on the phone for 2 weeks now and have found no help from ANYONE at AARP or UnitedHealthcare. The people at the 800 number now claim to have "lost" the recording of my enrollment conversation and have denied me coverage even though they show my call was received on December 31st and I was "enrolled" on January 1st. The agent on the phone or AARP or UnitedHelathcare made a serious error and I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me find a person with authority willing to listen and help me fix this problem not of my making.
As I was expecting to be covered immediately, all my prescriptions have now run out and because I was "enrolled" in the AARP drug plan, my old insurer automatically dropped me from their coverage immediately!
I really thought this would be easily and quickly remedied but I'm now without any prescription drug coverage and, as many of you can imagine, this is a life and death EMERGENCY for me!
Let me thank in advace anyone and everyone here willing to pitch in and help me get this fixed.
It is so frustrating when someone does not do their job and then it leaves you in a very difficult situation. I am not sure how you can now get onto Part D but I would suggest enrolling in www.simplefill.com since you are now qualified for their program since you do not have prescription coverage.
They will get you all your brand name prescriptions for $65 a month which seems really reasonable these days. I hope this helps!!
