In the Donut Hole calculator in AARP, is there any way to save the drug list so I don't need to re-enter it every time I want to review a different prescription drug plan?
Thanks for your help.
Hi there, Ruth,
We who designed the calculator intentionally made the list disappear when you close the browser (the Internet Explorer or Safari or Firefox or whatever it is you use to surf the web.) We did this for privacy reasons: the drug list is not floating around in cyberspace anywhere after you're done with the calculator. Its also not designed to be a drug plan FINDER, although we've since learned that lots of folks are trying to use it that way. If you change plans while in the tool, the drug list SHOULD stay intact, but it sounds like it isn't in your case. Maybe try another browser?
The best plan finder is www.medicare.gov 's version. If you use that to find the best plan, you can test it out using our calculator and see what happens if you switch to generic versions, or to a therapeutically similar but less expensive brand version.
Best of luck in your explorations this holiday season. Good for you for working on getting the best deal. So many people just stick with what they've got and don't take advantage of each year's changes.
