I am in your wife's position.. started this year Nov 2009 and one more med will put me in it.. that is just a little over a month.. what I did was to get my doctors to give me new ones so I won't go in till Spring instead of the end of Jan. I entered all my meds and tried to do with less in the medicare.gov with the list in there I tried on all plans there is a link that will take you and your medication in there The plan that was the cheapest for me was a free one..Medicare Advantage with 0 Premium.
I tried all sorts of plans being insecure.. the main difference was paying a premium.. with this plan I started out with over $8000 outlay.. and have worked it down to around 6000 meaning trying cheaper meds.. Most of the medication for breathing is not generic..
Everytime I would get an email to update my coverage and I put in the medication i take it would boom to $11000 to 13000 a year with the main difference of paying for a premium
Thanks for the reply. Sure is tough getting answers to questions from salespeople. After going to medicare.gov & going thru my wifes meds, I came up with my own answer & had her enroll. Whew, glad that's over for another year. I get my meds from the VA. Guess I should have married a Marine.
