Not a problem....believe me I've written before I thought several times when the subject seemed to hit home. I'm sure you have seen the instances many times over and it bugs me that the medical profession, pharmaceuticals, etc. get all the blame when many times it is an individuals lack of responsibility that is driving the prices through the roof. My son is a CRNA and he treats mostly obese patients who are on Medicare and Medicaid and they come back time and time again without having made any effort to control their own appetites. I gained 40 lbs myself by sitting at the computer doing Ebay work and have been struggling to lose it....now only about 10 lbs to go but I've heard plenty from him and as aggravating as it was, he was right. I'm also an ex smoker (almost 9 years) now so I have to deal with mild COPD and because I stressed major in my management jobs I have colon problems, two surgeries so far and I'm afraid more to follow as every 3 days I have some sort of episode. So it really hit me that she had nothing more than the knee replacements to deal with and choose not to do so when she could work. I struggled with my problems until I was able to draw on my deceased husband at 62 and then I did the Ebay which was more physical work than I ever had done in my life....that should end this year finally. But I'll find something else to generate income and keep me active. Like me, you are dealing with a lot more than one knee replacement....and since she was able to work with it until she was eligible for Medicare that really sort of rubbed me the wrong way....made it a matter of choice, not necessity.
I have to say this again and again we should have the choice of public option or government plan. Has anyone thought about the time when they can no longer afford the premiums then what and you have assets so no Medicaid.
If there is a government option on a sliding scale we at least have that to fall back on. It is scary to watch your money being taken by the banks and Wall Streets scraping out a living to pay big insurers. The government plan might not be perfect but it beats losing your home, car, or being homeless to pay for health care, Also if there is 401 K or pension money or a life insurance policy you must first all assets only $5,000 is all you can keep. Go get buried with that.
