This new group reminded me of an experience that will remain with me forever, but especially when I board a plane.
I was in Indiana, a nice , rural, friendly part of the state , south of Bloomington. I was headed for Indianapolis, and had to take a short flight.
I entered the airport , late in January, appropriately dressed in a long , warm , winter coat.
I walked up to the counter, and purchased my ticket from a young man in a worker's uniform.
I waited by the window, and watched, as the same young man went outside, and scraped ice from the airplane.
Then, they called for us to board, and , the same young man took my ticket, and told me in which direction to walk to board the plane. I walked forward, and entered the plane, and , sat behind the empty pilot's seat.
Next , I watched the very same young man enter the plane, and , sit down in the pilot's seat.
Now, I knew it was a small airport, and , a small , 13 seater plane, but, I had to admit , I did get worried when I realized the pilot was so overworked, taking tickets, scraping ice, boarding passengers , and , now they expected him to travel in the icy air, safely to my destination????
We made it, but, I still remember how scared I was. Apparently , the young man was good at multi-tasking.
