Title: Dreary and DirtyWe booked 2 rooms for 1 night. Best Western should be ashamed to include this "zero star" dive in its inventory. We paid about $125 per room, not a fortune but remember it should be a little cheaper in Chile . For example, we stayed at sparkling clean hotel in an upscale neighborhood (Providencia) in Santiago for about the same cost. Our window looked at a building just a few feet away and it was dark and dank. The bed pillows were lumpy. The room safes do not have locks. The fake wood furniture is falling apart, the curtains are too.
It's a small hotel on a busy city corner so it is really noisy. Our adult sons' room had a better window---brought in more light but they look out at the big, tacky hotel sign. I had to beg at least 3 times for the remote for the TV, which they kept saying they would bring to the room. Finally, at the front desk I was handed a remote. There was nothing to watch anyway on the old small TV with a fuzzy picture. We were hungry so we picked at the included breakfast, but we were careful because the food had been sitting out a long time uncovered, (except for the partially cooked scrambled eggs). My husband needed a replacement coffee cup/saucer because the coffee machine over poured. He was denied the request, due to a one cup per person rule. Huh? Do not expect the hotel staff to be able to give you any directions in English. They can check you in, but that's about it. We asked where there was a store and got a vague answer such as there are stores all around. We speak a little Spanish so this helped us.
We were relieved we had to suffer only 1 night.
I'm not surprised at anything negative I hear about Best Western. It's all about the money. I don't believe Best Western cares anything about a satisfied customer. I'd rather sleep in my car than stay at a Best Western.
