I have been covered under various employer's medical plans for the last 35 years. Until the last of my children reached 25, I have been covered under the plan's family provision. Since then, my medical coverage has been under an Employee plus Spouse provision.
In January, my wife and I will be 66 and 67, respectively. I've started thinking about retirement and the cost of medical insurance after retirement. When I retire, do I and my wife need to obtain separate medical insurance?
Having my wife covered under my employer's medical plan, only increases my medical insurance by 50%. Our medical costs will increase dramatically if my wife and I must obtain separate policies.
After retirement will each of us need to have our own medical insurance policy?
