For 6 yrs I go to doctor twice/year for routine cholesterol blood tests and pay about $50-$60 for the tests. In Aug 2011 my insur co sent me an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) advising me of blood tests charged by two different unknown labs totalling four thousand dollars, classifying them as out of network and telling me I am responsible for 100% of the charges. Clerks at the doctor's office told me it was a mistake sending my blood to those labs and I would not be billed. The doctor himself told it was in error made by an incompetent clerk in his office and I would not be billed. To this date I have not received either a bill or test results. The issue is that my ins co has these tests in my record which will negatively affect my future premium rates. The ins rep told me the labs billed for the test and they are part of my medical record. I am asking for help in removing these blood tests from my ins co records. Thank you.
