First I want to say this is not about myself, but about my Mother n Law who just turned 65. she lives alone, and has been on soc. sec. for 3 years.. She recieved a packet from Medicare telling her she will get part A for free, but she must pay for part B if she wants it, and only has until Novemeber to sign up for part B, which will then take 100.00 from her soc. sec. check, which she cannot afford to lose that 100.00 a month, in no way would she be able to live, pay her rent, her utitlities, food, .. she receives 1000.00 a month and every dime goes to her rent and utiltities..... how does medicare expect seniors to live on the soc security and then take out 100 a month ? its crazy... is there some other agency who can help her with part B or some other kind of insurance ? does she need to get medicaid? will that somewhere she can get part B or assistance ? what is a senior to do? When I turn old enough to have soc sec. I will be so screwed.. and I have already paid a lot in... I thought Obama fixed things to be more cost effective for insurance... lucky for my mother n law, she takes no medications.
