We are all living longer than even 20 years ago. In all honesty, it is expensive for the public and the government. I believe that is why preventive care is such a prevalent item right now on the health list.
What President Obama changed, another President will change back or may even enhance. Life is dynamic.
Personally, I bargain with the medical world after insurance pays them. For example, I received a bill for my recent hospitalization for $1800 out-of-pocket expenses. I waited two months and then called the hospital and negotiated with them. We finally settled on $1200.
What gripes me is how the medical world does not give us itemized bills anymore. When I negotiate with hospital billing personnel, I ask them when they go to the grocery store, do they just get a bill for a certain lump sum or does each item they purchase on that bill? Well, we know what the answer is. I always request an itemized bill so I can scrutinize it for any errors. Believe it or not, I do find errors!
