I just realized I only have a couple of days to change my Medigap plan and can't find in Medicare .gov what the premiums are for next year! I don't think I can find a better plan, but don't even know what the premium is going to be in '09!
Had a few emails back and forth with Medicare about comparing medigap plans.
Sortof as I suspected there are so many options and insurers with different plans for each state that Medicare doesn't try to post the data the way they do for Med.D.
We're left to our own searchs for our location and the C thru kor L plans. While the letter plans must cover what Medicare has mandated for each, the premiums vary a great deal. One has to call each insurer to get costs and they don't set them until Nov. 15. That leaves little time to compare plans after all the emails and phone calls to get the info. What a complicated mess! I think that the insurers want it that way so that people will just give up and continue a higher cost plan( see Humana and the jump in premium for D)
