Very good post! As you pointed out the search for the best plan is very complicated. Medicare.gov provides a lot of info,but it has a bias toward the "advantage" plans so getting detail on supplement plans isn't easy,but it's there.
I think I'm pretty good at researching after over 50 years of engineering,but it still is very time consuming for me and having to review "D" plans and the medigap plans each year is a real pain.
I'm a WW II combat vet,but can't get VA drug coverage because I didn't need it before 2002 and my savings are (were) too great.
