It seems many of us who have so many health care conditions, that "follow-up" visits exclude the necessity for an annual physical condition.
My physician explained it me more clearly when I was embarrassed to tell him I was overwhelmed by an urge at times to urinate or "dribbled." "Not to worry," he said and thanked me for the revelation. He said my symptom was one of an enlarged prostate or cancer and I required a peridioc exam. Thankfully, it was the former. And it was covered by insurance as a preventative and annual exam.
The lesson here is not how to take advantage but to be honest and informed and to cooperate with our physician.
As it is now, I am on 'maintenance' with only the requierment to all three specialists for a yearly visit. Before that I was seeing each on a more regularly basis. I would suppose that this is why it's acceptable for me to have a yearly 'check-up'. But being open with the physician or specialist does pay off.
