They surely are not to me, but quite a few people post things which include some wording like "This is how I think it works". I know they are trying to be helpful, but what people are seeking is the facts about how something actually works, and not someone's opinion of how something works. The worst thing about this is that some folks will take that opinion and make plans based on it, only to be very surprised later when that opinion turns out to be nothing more than that.
I try very hard, when a discussion is actually a request for facts to not post anything that I'm not 100% sure is indeed a fact. How do others feel about that? I ask because I've been blasted for telling someone who posts an opinion when facts are needed that their opinion is not really helpful to a person seeking facts. I get back things like, "Why are you criticizing me for trying to help?" That misses the point, at least in my view, because they are NOT helping if they give an opinion when facts are needed. All views welcome.
