I used to be a member of an Advantage plan. However, the cost was almost eqivalent to a Medigap policy. I found that I had to wait an inordinate time to get approvals for just about anything when I was a member of the Advantage plan. Even a simple X-ray was a hassle. With a Medigap policy there was never a wait. The Advantage copayments were expensive and were applied to most everything including a simple X-ray. Secondly, if you had to go out of network to see a specialist or you were taken sick while traveling, then you only received partial coverage, high copayments and lots of hassles. You were only permitted to use in-network providers and would be exposed to paying the entire bill if you made a mistake and used an out-of -network provider.A Medigap policy is the only way to go. You have immediate access to a specialist and do not have to obtain a gatekeeper's referral. Go MEDIGAP!!!
