I don't know what became of any of the four kids. As stepmother I had no standing in the divorce. They already had so much turmoil between their mom and dad that I didn't want to add to it. I saw how much emotional stress it caused them when their mother would contact them out of the blue, and then disappear again for months. In between visits, some of the kids would pretend she didn't exist. I ask the counselor about that and he said that was their way of dealing with the stress she caused. He said that missing me might have the same effect if we weren't careful. So the family counselor recommended that I leave it up to the kids to make contact. The youngest turned 21 in 2002. I've googled them without success (even though the family name is somewhat unusual). I've always wondered how they turned out and if they are okay.
They were so incredibly lucky to have you , even for the short while! Bless you Betsy!
