LOL, I grew up in the next county over! We used to go to Benton to shop for used cars (they had the most dealerships of any small town I ever saw) and to get the pork barbeque. When I moved to East Tennessee, my aunt who had also moved down here, used to ask us to bring her back some Benton barbeque anytime we made a trip home to western KY. Paducah was the "big city". We'd go there to shop because they had a Sears Roebuck. And in the summer we'd go to Noble Park. Our county was dry also. We'd either go across the Tennessee line, or to the county Mayfield was in (McCracken?) or all the way to Fulton to get alcohol. My college roommate was from Benton.
We stayed in Benton, Marshall County, 11 years. More to come on that. Murray is Calloway County. Mayfield is Graves County. Paducah is McCracken. We are currently pastoring the Church by the mall. Lots more than Sears here today. The big city is Nashville for the locals. We go to Memphis. My youngest sister lives in East TN.
