Well, actually we aren’t as deep as we were. My step-mother, as weird as she is, is really quite remarkable. Christmas is coming and there isn’t any money for gifts. Nothing is mentioned for Debbi, me, Donna, or Bobbi. I guess we’re too old to expect any thing. But, when it comes to Mary’s kids, you can count on them getting gifts. So what can it be? There is a shed here that we keep the corn for the horses and our dog food. Now it’s a workshop. We begin looking for lumber scraps, nails and paint. Saws, hammers and glue. Now, take all that and add Mary and me in the midst and you’re probably curious as to what we’re doing. We spend hours after dark in the shed. A Coleman lantern for light as we design and build: An airport hanger and three single-engine small planes for the boys. Each a different color. Red, blue and green. A doll house and doll beds for the girls. We nearly freeze in this shed as we create these gifts. It’s well worth it though when the boys run around "dive bombing" each other and the girls lay their precious babies in their beds for naps.
How sweet--I always loved making home-made gifts. Those are the best toys--using lots of imagination!
