I love the cat story and enjoyed a good laugh.
I, however, am one of those dog people but I have no great stories of my brave protectors.
Several years ago I was the owner of three dogs, two standard poodles and a rescue that resembled a small short-legged black lab. I awoke one night to see all three dogs, who normally slept on the king-sized bed with me, all lined up in a nice little row at the top of the stairs, just three shapes in the moonlight coming through the window. I thought this odd but went back to sleep.
The next morning when I got up and came downstairs, feeling my way to the coffee pot I noticed that something was amiss. My house had been broken into and it was obvious that the thief had wandered throughout my downstairs. My VCR was missing along with several tapes and all the snack-type food from my kitchen, including bread and cold cuts.
I like to think that if the intruder had decided to come upstairs my protectors would have done something or perhaps they were doing something by creating that barrier. I guess I'll never know.
