People in this country are more concerned with their political correctness and less concerned with real patriotism. Since about 75-80% of our citizens never served in the military, they can not relate to what we veterans had to do while we were in the service of our country.
I am NOT a member of a political party (and I have not been for almost 30 years). The word compromise has not existed in political groups for quite some time now. The prevailing political attitude is "we need to get ours, and to hell with the rest of you!". People are just personally politically greedy when it comes to what they want out of their government. This health care reform issue is a perfect example. The political parties have just turned it into a political football. Any actual positive reform will probably "die on the vine" because of this.
Am I being too negative here? I do not think so. I dare you to look around and talk amongst the members of your little American neighborhood and tell me that what I state is not true. I kick myself just about every day of my life and wonder what I was willing to defend back in the 1970's when I was involved with the U.S. Navy. Most Americans attitudes just make me sick, no matter what side of the political agenda they are on.
No my friend, you are not being too negative. In fact, your statements are correct! That is why we must band together and speak up now.....Thank you for your comments.
