The cost of eating healthy has risen so much and my fixed income not keeping pace. I tried cutting back at first but found myself running out and having to go to the grocery even more so I began to try a few tricks on my own.
One trick is this...I usually buy lite juice as real strength has alot of calories and sugar. I take my medicine and vitamins with juice so I can swallow them down easier.
One day I had very little juice left and added a bit of water to it to make it enough to make a glass. It wasnt bad, not the greatest but not too bad either. So the next purchase was for a full strength and good brand of juice.
I began splitting the glass with a third extra water and worked up to half. when I reached a half glass of full juice and half water I began splitting the jugs of Juice immediately. I kept the same empty jug and using my water filtering faucet filled half the jug and poured half the juice in the jug. Then filled the other with filtered water as well. It tastes just like the lite juice at 50% the cost. Sometimes the lite juice is more expensive!
I would not recommend buying the lite juice and then splitting it for I believe that is what the manufacturer has already done to make it lite.
I would recommend buying a good name brand juice like welches or ocean spray to split.
I make two containers out of one. The cost on sale is usually 1.99 and Im splitting the cost 50% still getting half the calories and a lite refreshing drink.
I have tried the same practice with dishwashing soap and clothing soap and it works with that as well but not an equal split but approx. one third.
Hope it helps.
