I've been my partner's caregiver for several years now and one thing seems to raise its ugly head every once in awhile. There are times when I can't get John to undress at night before going to bed (he insists on wearing whatever he happens to have on at that moment - usually jeans and shirt); or to get up in the morning. For example, today he stayed in bed (sleeping) all day long. This is the second time in a month. I was finally able to convince him to get up at 5:00 p.m. He had not been willing to take his morning meds nor eat a meal. He was very agressive in his desire to be left alone, pushing me away from any attempt at physical contact. He demonstrated hostility that in the past ended in a physical confrontation. I have since not permitted his outbursts to get that far. I simply let him alone. It should be noted that he has not been able to "speak" for several months now, so verbal commnication is quite difficult.
Do any of you out there have similar problems with your loved one? Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.
