Back when I was a young child , multigenerational living was very common. I was raised in my grandparents' home with my aunts and cousins. Then we all moved away and everyone had their own homes. Now I am living with my youngest daughter along with my mother and my two grandsons. I am a fulltime caregiver for my mother who has vascular dementia and is confined to a wheelchair and needs total transfer. At the same time I take care of my 2yr old grandson and assist with the care of my school age grandson. Although we live in a small apartment , the benefits are many. My mother enjoys the company of my 2yr old grandson . the two of them benefit from interacting with each other. My taking care of the home ,helps my daughter focus on her demanding job and takes the stress away from worrying about daycare for her sons.
