I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and am blessed to say that I am an 18 year survivor. My message to all females young and old is to get an annual mammogram.
So many women say they don't get a mammogram because it is painful. That is just a cop out. It is more painful to tell your 16 year old daughter that you have breast cancer and you are in the fight of your life.
When my daughter just got her first mammogram at 30, due to her high risk, I was glad and anxious at the same time. Thank God it was normal.
Ladies get your mammogram, it only lasts a few minutes, is a little uncomfortable, and can save your life. I was in my early 40s and I know people in their 30s who have breast cancer. You can never start too early.
