Were you using an older version of FTM when you upgraded, or were you using a different program? If an older version of FTM, how easy was it to make the change, and did you lose any of the data? I have been looking at the 2010 Version, and would like to upgrade, but am just a little hesitant. I have put a lot of work into getting the information I have, and I would not like to lose any of it and have to start over in reentering it.
I didn't lose any data. I went from FTM 2006 to 2010. The upgrade was clean and easy. Actually, they don't require you to uninstall a previous version of FTM, so you can have them both available at the same time. They have you import you tree files into the new version. There were some migration issues with some of the very old versions of FTM, so contact their technical support to see if you may have to do something different.
But I also recommend that you backup your data before you do the upgrade. Also create a Gedcom file just in case.
Be aware that there are old add-ons that may not work with the new file format. I would count on it not working and go from there. Some of the features that some of the old add-ons had are now incorporated in FTM 2010, so you may not need to worry about it.
Also note, that they've changed the reports some, so your favorite report or format maybe not be there or has been modified from what you may be used to. They seem to be responsive to user requests, and are trying to respond to them. As always, you can't make everyone happy when you change something that they are used to, so check out the formats to see if you will be happy with them.
Overall, I think the product is much improved, and like what they have done.
