Since I am trying to get rid of bindweed. I have read up on it. It's a lot of work and you mumble a lot. I think the mumbling helps a lot. Part of why it is so hard to get rid of is that it has a large and hardy root system.Single attempts will not be successful. It will take several times before your successful in killing it. Both boiling water (organic) and Round-up (chemical) can be used. Boiling water to kill bindweed, simply boil water and pour it on the plant.Pour about 2-3" beyond where the bindweed is growing so that you can get as much of the roots as possible. Using Round-up,apply it heavily to the bindweed plant and every time the plant appears and reaches 12" in length. Another way to rid bindweed, is to prune the vines back to ground level, and keep doing this each time you see it. This method forces the plant to use up it's energy reservoirs in it's roots, which will eventually kill it. But remember when you do this, let the weeds dry out before you throw them away, OR you will have a new nice crop of the dreaded Bindweed. How do I know? Don't ask.
