In Response to re: need advice by JMM220
We've had consistently good luck with restaurants in Rome by avoiding any that have menu boards in English outside the doors or that offer a multi course meal for a few Euro. You only need to get a block or two out of the tourist areas to find the neighborhood restaurants where the locals eat. If they're serving dinner at 6:00pm, it's probably a tourist restaurant since the locals eat several hours later. Also, as someone else mentioned, watch the bread charge and unless you want to pay 10 Euros for a bottle of water, ask for tap water. We always go for the house wine. It's usually really good. I wish I could remember the names of some of the restaurants, but we try not eat at the same place twice there are there are so many great but small family owned restaurants in the city that I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding some you love.
