Well, many of us have recently been hit with a doozy of a snowstorm. (And for those of you who haven't, enjoy your sunshine and clear roads!) Astraea recently brought up the issue of how to safely clear the roadways of all the snow. I know there are various solutions that are used to melt the sidewalks, driveways and paths, and I'm wondering if anyone knows which are the environmentally safest to use.
I heard recently that a solution made from beets can be used, but I have no idea how effective or eco-friendly it is. My neighborhood association recently salted the sidewalks with a solution that my neighbor said burned her dog's paws. That can't be good.
