One of my favorites from 1963 was "The End of the World" by Skeeter Davis. It was "our" song for my boyfriend who was a senior, and I was a freshman in high school. That song stayed in my heart for many years after he married the other girl, and I married someone else, too.
Personal trivia about this song:
1) I got to meet Skeeter Davis in the early 1980's when she sang a gospel song at my church. I told her how much "The End of the World" song meant to me as a teenager in love.
2) To this day, my oldest niece can still be brought to tears remembering that song and what it had meant to me. I am 63, and my niece is 54.
3) At an all-class reunion about four years ago, he came. We hadn't seen each other in about 40 years. We stole away from the crowd, sat in the lobby and caught up with each other's lives. So good to see him again!
