One of our goals each year is for each of us to try something new out of our comfort zone. We could have a project on say stip paper piecing or applique where you're given a pattern with step by step instructions Say a table topper, pot holder or candle mat

I love the idea of a block of the month, with a holiday theme. I do love the fabric swaps too. I have not done paper piecing or applique very much; so I really don't understand those. I also, like the idea of smaller projects like table topper, potholders, etc. I have more confidence in myself to finish them. Due to the time I have to spend with my mother-in-law (I'm her caregiver); I don't have much time at my sewing machine except weekends. I loved the block swap, but would rather have instructions to follow, than have to look up the instructions. The advanced quilter's have more knowledge than I do on the certain quilt blocks.
