Do you think that if those legislatures who endorsed "no COLA" adjustments for years 2010 and 2011 for SS recepients, would have had their automatic 1.5% pay increase suspended for the same period, would have agreed?
Do you think that if the legislatures who endorsed the section part D, had the same medical benefits provided to Medicare recepients, would have agreed to the same povisions for all of us?
I would like to know why house and senate members should have any different medical benefits different from Medicare beneficiaries (including co-pay and premiums) . This would save millions of dollars each year and would provide a beautiful incentive to those who vote for benefits, to make sure costs are kept reasonable.
Also, all house and senate members should vote to cancel their automatic 1.5 % annual pay raise. Any pay raise for legislatures should be tied to the same COLA formula as SS recipients. This would eliminate any conflict of interest in voting future benefit cuts.
