This is for anyone interested in the Mountain Days Festival in the Dayton, Ohio area, sponsored by Our Common Heritage which promotes our Appalachian heritage, or those of us we call Urban Appalachians. I happened upon a blog regarding the 2007 festival, (honest, I don't know the author of it). It has some great pictures which show some of the activity and just a general feel of the festival. If you google Mountain Days, Dayton, OH and click on the Urban Ohio site, you can check it out. I help with the committee for Traditional Arts as a gopher of sorts, so I am prejudiced that it is one of the best festivals in the area. I'm not sure about the cost this year, but past years it has been around $6 or $7.00 admission for the whole day. Where else can you go, have three stages going non stop with country, bluegrass and traditional music to enjoy, take in the demonstrations of arts, watch the dancers, both cloggers and celtic, all for that amount? Plus, you can shop the leather hats, eat the likes of beans & cornbread, pork chops, homemade ice cream, etc., have a cold drink of a lemon shake up or a brew, and just kick back for a great day. Anyway, if you're interested, check out that blog.
Also, the Celtic Festival will be coming up very soon in Dayton. If you're intersted, I can get you more information. Keep on dancing.
sounds like a great fun day..but Dayton may just be a little too far to travel this week end...Celtic Festival sounds fun also...when and where is it??...hope you have happy feet at the festival...www.aarp.org/community/editor/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/teeth_smile.gif" />
