In Response to RE: Retired In Mexico by Libertad
We have incidents in Jalisco but as I said in my previous message, it is no more dangerous at Lake Chapala than in the United States. If one minds there own business, are courteous to both expat and Mexican neighbors and avoid 'shady hangout' areas, one will not likely be bothered. There is no 100% safe area anywhere and innocent victims in both Mexico & USA occur but positives far outweigh negatives for living in Lake Chapala region. I would take Lakeside over Cancun any day for economic, climate and social hospitality reasons.
Lake Chapala is NOT dried up and has sustained marvelous water capacity the past 4-5 years at least. Studies have indicated it is even cleaner now than in previous years and municipal authorities have been diligent to make malecons and the lake a recreational joy.
