You go girl! Go for it. Social Workers seem to always be able to find work, especially if you are licensed. I had a 35 year career as a Social Worker in a variety of settings and have never had any difficulty finding work, even now, in my 60's. Unless you are very shrewd in your acceptance of positions, the pay in many areas, and in many settings is far less than desirable. Social Work pay has lagged behind many other fields unfortunately. Gerentology is a good field however. It seems you may have wasted valuable time by first getting a masters in Gerontology as you could have done your Social Work feild placement in Gerontology and had as much credibility with your Social Work degree as having to spend an additional 2 years getting your MSW. Anyway, education is never wasted. Good Luck.
