In Response to Your Never too old to learn life is not over at 50 by dhartell316
I heard similar types of negative feedback. I changed careers, for the 3rd time, at age 51. I was told I wouldn't be able to do it. I have a relative that went back to school/ work at age 54 after primarily raising children. Lot of work, late nights, stress, but we both did it.
Getting hired as a teacher may be difficult, but not impossible. You'll find, similar to your educational endeavour, that you can excel at your classes, and work, as you have the drive, motivation, and maturity. So many "20 somethings" just don't seem to have the greater understanding of the world out there and have difficulty coping in bad situations.
Maturity gives you clarity of thought and action. Go for it. At the very least, the educational experience itself will open 'personal doors' to you and you'll finally understand something about subject areas you totally dismissed before.
