A month ago My wife and I took a trip of a lifetime to Paris. She is in need of oxygen at night, so we rented a portable Oxygen condenser (approved by the airlines) and had it with us at check in. When I tried to checking in this devise (about 20lbs) I was told it must be a carry on and we were only permitted to have one carry on each. The two items originally intended to carry one was a laptop computer and a camera in a bag. It was my intention to start a travel log for our Grandchildren so I opted to hand them the camera bag. When we arrived in Paris our camera was lost. I went immediately to the claims office and filed a claim for the missing camera. I was heat sick with the loss of my $900 camera with accessories which I saved a long time to buy.
Fast forward two week to our return and contacting so called "Customer Care". I was asked to produce all the information about proof of the camera purchase, copy of tickets, Copy of claim of loss etc etc. It took me many hours to accumulate a mail this to them, only to get a terse reply, "We do not cover cameras". I was ready to just give it up (just not worth the stress) Until I got a second reply to the question I posed. "Why did you ask for all this information to be sent to you, which you knew was about a lost camera, when you do not cover them anyway"? The answer was "We are confident you knew all along that we do not insure camera". To me it feels it's an accusation of fraud or at the least, being disingenuous.
I pointed out to them, we were in need of a wheelchair and their assistant pushing us to the baggage claim made us last to arrive. Note: There is no one to check your baggage tickets to you bag. Anyone can pick up a bag, not even on the flight, as the outside doors give access to this area. Hence the Handicapped and far more vulnerable to theft.Anyone have a clue how to get reimbursed?
