I would like for AARP to champion the cause of foreclosure victims who lost their home because banks (serving as Trustees for syndicated mortgage investors) filed fraudulent documents and mislead the Courts. Fraudulent foreclosures have reached epidemic proportions and something needs to be done about it to protect all howeowners - including retired folks.
There is a pressing need for legislation nation-wide that enacts a civil cause of action for these crimes in order to allow victims to sue in order to recover damages. There should also be sanctions for judges who rubber stamp these illegal foreclosues by "looking the other way" and ignoring the bank fraud.
Although mortgage task forces have collected fines relating to government lawsuits, getting relief is an uphill battle for individual homeownerswho have lost their primary residence. If any fellow bloggers know how to get this issue in front of the President and/or the Board of AARP for their consideration I would appreciate hearing from you. Bill White - Houston
