In Response to Re: Dr. Phil tweet controversy:
Your point is well taken and I think over several posts you've explained your position well. There is no substitute for personal responsibility and for parents who keep the welfare of their children front and center, teaching "good touch & bad touch" and making sure their children are comfortable reporting any uncomfortable or suspicious overtures by anyone, no matter how close he or she is to the family or how well-respected they are in the community.
People who have never learned personal responsibility or who have ignored the teachings of those who who try to instill them with a respect for good behavior and a finely tuned moral compass enter the world at large at their own peril. They broadcast their lax standards through their dress, drinking & drug habits and "loose" behaviors. They are flying in the face of common sense. Are they responsible in a contributory way for what happened to them??? Many would agree with you that they are tempting fate but I think most would agree that the perpetrator of any crime upon their person should be prosecuted and made to serve any punishment &/or treatment and rehabilitation meted out to them by a court of law.
