I'm not a "Survivor" watcher, but it caught my attention this morning that "fan favorite" and former winner, Rupert Boneham, was nominated as the Libertarian Party candidate for Governor in Indiana. While he says he's been a Libertarian for 20 years, he didn't become politically active until last year. Wikipedia said he's worked with handicapped & challenged youth for many years .. but I haven't read anything about his education.
What do you think about celebrities who try to imply that their name recognition, and perhaps flash-in-the-pan TV success, equates with a more global competence .. parlaying their 15 minutes of fame into something a lot more substantive & powerful?
It's one thing for The Jersey Shore's "The Situation" to perhaps start a tanning franchise, but any reality competition winner being the executive of a State without background for it?
