I enjoy cooking shows, especially the ones where you feel like you're in the chef's own kitchen, and they blend in visits to their homeland & specialty food shops.
But it bothers me more & more, to see shows like "Man vs Food", where the goal is to eat some enormous gut-busting plate of food, for which a restaurant is famous .. when some people even in America have trouble feeding their families, not to mention 3rd world countries! It's also incredibly unhealthy to abuse your whole digestive system that way.
And then there's Paula Deen, the "Southern fried" chef, who recently announced that she's diabetic .. 3 years after being diagnosed, but continued to showcase her fattening foods on TV. And what a coincidence .. she's also got a deal with a pharmaceutical company as spokesperson for their diabetes management program!
Do you think these shows & chefs need to be more socially responsible?
