For non-fans, Dr. Who is an intergalactic traveler who lives forever, but conveniently "regenerates" periodically .. which also allows them to switch actors (considering how long the shows been on).
There have been 11 actors playing Dr. Who, and when the actor playing the 11th Doctor decided to move on, it was a BIG DEAL to cast a replacement .. which was just broadcast live from the UK. Fans insist that the actor must be a Brit, and Peter Capaldi (who?) is a Scot.
But that gets to another reason why I posted this; Dr. Who is something of a Sci-Fi action hero, and the last 3 actors playing The Doctor have been coming down in age. Chris Eccleston was 41 when he began playing the part, David Tennant was 34, and Matt Smith only 28. So it's great to see that 55-year old Peter Capaldi is considered a viable action hero .. and he's old enough to be an AARP member (if he were American)!
