In another Topic, I mentioned that the British series, "Dr. Who", has been produced for 47 years, and currently has its 11th actor playing the starring role as the Doctor.
What other TV shows replaced the actor/actress in a major/starring role .. and how successful do you think that was?
There are 2 I can think of, off the top of my head:
- "Bewitched" - Dick York played Samantha's husband Darrin from 1964 to 1969, and was then replaced (due to a back injury) by Dick Sargent for the 1969 thru 1972 seasons.
- "Roseanne" - Lecy Goranson played Roseanne's older daughter Becky in seasons 1 thru 5, but then wanted to attend college, so Sarah Chalke played "the second Becky" in seasons 6, 7 & 9. The two actresses alternated in season 8.
"Bewitched" was so long ago, I don't remember the changeover that much .. except that I think Darrin #2 was better looking. I thing that was also the case with "the second Becky" on "Roseanne.
