I too am still decluttering after two years. You just have to remember that it didn't accumulate overnight and it's not going to go away overnight. I recently cleaned out my garage yet again. It seems that over the summer, things just pile up and the car gets left outside. Since it's almost snow season here, I figured I needed to attack it and get my car back inside. So I went through things once again. Some stuff were things that needed to be stored elsewhere and some just needed to be gone. I've got three large garbage bags in my car full of towels, blankets, bedding, coats and cold weather gear that will go to the Community Kitchen that supports my Boy Scout Troop. It's getting to be the time of year when people need warm clothes and blankets and I have more than I need. That always helps me to give things away, when I can see them helping other people. So that stuff will be dropped off next week when I go into town.
I could get my car back in the garage but hubby moved all the stuff out of his office to put down a new floor so guess where it all went. He's almost finished with the floor though, so things should be going back in soon. And we are going to play musical desks so I may finally get my office/sewing room cleaned out. I'm moving out a too large corner desk unit and moving in his old desk that will not take up so much room. So I'm starting today on cleaning off my desk and getting things ready to move to the new desk. Will require some purging to make it all fit, which will be a very good thing.
I have found that there are always things to get rid of even if I've been through an area before. I got rid of some stuff when I got out the fall decorations. I used to have Halloween, Thanksgiving and fall decorations, and lots of them. Now I find I like less, so I've only kept fall things and just a few Halloween and Thanksgiving that fit on one shelf. House still looks festive but there is much less to pack away and store, only one box.
So I just continue on and keep at the decluttering. My sewing area is the one that never seems to get done. I'm hopeful that over this winter I will be able to see some progress there. I want to buy a quilting machine, but I have to make room for it, so that's my incentive. Absolutely can't buy it until the sewing area is clean and clutter free. That's my goal and I will let you know how I do.
