Senators Urge Leadership to Limit Further Expansion of Federal Programs
AARP just sent an e-mail urging members to call their Senators to vote 'no' to the Conrad-Gregg Amendment, and they are characterizing it as some dark and scary proposal. Well, the headline above is the proposal in a nutshell. The amendment urges the Senate to limit or stop expending federal programs (like HEALTHCARE) and FIX MEDICARE, MEDICAID AND SOCIAL SECURITY AND SCHIP.
I don't know about you, but that doesn't sound scary to me at all, as a matter of fact, I believe with all my heart that that is what they should have done from the very beginning.
But aside from AARP being on the WRONG-SIDE of the argument AGAIN, is the fact that they had the NERVE to actually say in their e-mail that 'the proposals could be voted on immediately, without full transparency and accountability – and without our voices being heard' -- ARE THEY KIDDING ME - THEY'RE CRYING ABOUT NO TRANSPARENCY?!?!?!?!!! WHAT?!?!?!
Their ideology has COMPLETELY BLINDED THEM TO REALITY!! Just like obama and his entire administration and the entire Democrat Party!!
URGE YOUR SENATORS TO VOTE YES ON THE CONRAD-GREGG AMENDMENT!!!!
That is simply untrue. The AARP email opposed Conrad-Gregg because it would set up a special "commission" that would make recommendations on Medicare and Social Security and then Congress would have to vote WHATEVER they recommend up or down.
No debate, no amendments.
Say what you will about the health care debate but that went through 5 committees of Congress, floor debate with amendments.
No one is saying the process is perfect - but what Conrad-Gregg does is take a really big decision and put it in the hands of a few and then say "take it or leave it."
If you are in favor of concentrating power over Social Security and Medicare into an even smaller number of people in Senate and House leadership and the Obama administration - then you should agree with cmm912 and urge the Senate to support Conrad-Gregg.
